Client: Main Roads Western Australia

Reid Highway, West Swan Road to Great Northern Highway

Landscape Planners, contracted by Main Roads WA and in consultation with the Swan River Trust, developed the extention of Reid Highway 2.6 kms within the City of Swan.  The scope including associated integration with the Middle Swan Reserve, associated side roads to the alignment and a new bridge over the Swan River and Public Art.  A revegetation and landscape plan was developed for the project, including medians, batters and road side areas. The alignment was revegetated using species endemic to the local vegetation complexes, and riparian environment. Revegetation was designed for the riparian fringing areas adjacent to the Swan River, and to provide fauna connections between surrounding vegetation areas and the Swan River. The landscape theme created areas of parkland planting adjacent to the alignment in keeping with the semi rural theme of the Swan Valley. This theme blended into native self sustaining revegetated areas adjacent to the Swan River to provide habitat for fauna.

Reid Highway, Marmion Avenue to Erindale Road & Malaga Drive

The Reid Highway, Marmion, Erindale and Malga project involved the development of a grade seperated intersection at Malaga Drive within the City of Bayswater and the City of Swan, as well as widening and a new bridge over the Mitchell Freeway within the City of Stirling. Revegetation works included the use of specific provenance species adjacent to the Lightning Swamp Nature Reserve, at the Malaga Drive intersection.
